Why wedding guests book a sitter

The Emerald Coast is one of the most popular wedding spots in the South, and most guests travel in with children. A wedding day is long: photos, a ceremony at golden hour, dinner, toasts, and dancing that runs past little ones' bedtime. A sitter back at the rental lets kids keep their routine and lets parents stay for the last song instead of leaving after cake.

Some couples ask for an adults-only reception. Others invite kids to the ceremony and want them collected before dinner. Either way, a sitter makes the plan work.

Common ways families plan it

• Rehearsal dinner only. The wedding party is out late the night before; a sitter puts the kids to bed at the rental.
• Ceremony to bedtime. Kids attend the ceremony with you, then the sitter meets you at the venue or at your rental or hotel and takes over for the reception.
• Full evening. The sitter arrives before you leave to get dressed and stays until you're back from the after-party.
• The whole weekend. One sitter for the welcome party, rehearsal dinner and reception, so the kids see a familiar face each night.

When to book for a wedding weekend

Spring and fall are peak wedding seasons on 30A and in Destin, and Saturday nights fill first. Reach out as soon as you have your travel dates and the timeline from the couple. If you aren't sure of the exact reception end time, give us your best guess and update it when you know.

Tell us the venue and where you're staying so we can plan the sitter's drive. Many 30A and Rosemary Beach rentals are on narrow streets with limited parking, so a note about where guests can park helps.

What to tell us when you book

• The wedding date, and each block of time you need (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception)
• Where you're staying: rental address, condo unit, or hotel room
• Each child's age, plus allergies, medications and bedtime
• Whether the kids will change out of wedding clothes and where pajamas are
• Your phone number and a second contact who's at the wedding with you
